Forensic Scientists Link Suspect's DNA to Dallas Rape in 'Shotgun Bandit' Trial

The prosecution introduced two forensic scientists who testified about DNA they said linked Ledbetter to the 2006 rape in Far North Dallas. Defense attorneys attempted to undermine the scientific evidence, asking if another lab might have come up with a different conclusion.

Prosecutors presented their case this morning against the man believed to be the "shotgun bandit," a name given because of the weapon the rapist used in some of the attacks.

Stanley Ledbetter is on trial facing an accusation of sexual assault from a May 2006 incident, and authorities say he is suspected of being a serial rapist and may face more charges.
