Streamlight Inc., manufacturer of high-performance flashlights for military and tactical applications, has launched the Night Com with power C4 LED technology, ultra-bright red LEDs, and MIL STD LED night-vision protection, specifically designed for personnel who work under low-light conditions. The new light, featuring heavy-duty aluminum construction to withstand harsh conditions, preserves and optimizes night vision.

Offering three separate lighting modes, the lithium battery-powered Night Com features a white C4 LED, which provides two to three times the output of Super High Flux LEDs, two Nichia ultra-bright red LEDs for times when night vision preservation isn’t necessary and a red night vision protection indicator LED that meets or exceeds MIL-1472D requirements.

“The versatile Night Com provides great flexibility in selecting the light source and intensity to match a wide range of circumstances for military and tactical personnel operating at night in the field,” said Streamlight Chief Operating Officer Ray Sharrah. “The Night Com’s mode-select switch lets users easily choose the desired lighting modes, including the high power white C4 LED, the low power ultra-bright red LEDs, and the red night vision indicator LED. They also can select a ‘safety’ mode that ensures the light can’t be turned on by mistake.” The light’s Dual Switch System features an engineered tailcap switch for Power On/Power Off and signal, Sharrah added.

The Night Com’s C4 LED, which boasts a 50,000-hour lifetime, offers 4,500 candela peak beam intensity and 105 lumens measured system output, providing up to 3.5 continuous hours to the 10% lumen output level. The two Nichia ultra-bright red LEDS, which provide a 100,000 hour lifetime, offer 2.5 lumens and provide up to 28 hours of runtime. The MIL-1472D-standard night vision protection LED generates <0.05 lumens, preserving complete dark adaptation, and features a 100,000 hour lifetime.

Powered by two included 3-Volt lithium batteries, which have a 10-year shelf life, the Night Com weighs 5.44 ounces, measures 5.43 inches in length and features an unbreakable polycarbonate lens. The flashlight’s casing of aircraft-grade aluminum is coated with Mil Spec Type II anodized finish for superior wear, abrasion, and corrosion resistance and is “O” ring sealed for weather resistance. Its computer-milled knurling provides maximum grip with or without gloves.

The suggested retail price of the Night Com is $70. The light comes with a high-strength wrist lanyard and Streamlight’s limited lifetime warranty.
