Georgia School Board Votes to Allow Trained Teachers to Carry Guns

Fannin County School Board approved the proposal that said employees must be approved by the Board of Education and the Fannin County Sheriff before being allowed to carry a gun on school campuses.

A school district in northern Georgia unanimously voted Thursday night to arm teachers with guns who volunteer to carry. Teachers will be permitted to have guns holstered but will not be allowed to have guns in bags or purses under the new policy.

Fannin County School Board approved the proposal that said employees must be approved by the Board of Education and the Fannin County Sheriff before being allowed to carry a gun on school campuses, Newsweek reports.

Approved teachers will be trained on judgment, pistol and long gun shooting at a minimum, WSB-TV reports.
