VIDEO: Gunfight with Calif. Cop Killer
The sex offender who ambushed and killed two Santa Cruz (Calif.) Police officers Tuesday was wearing body armor when he died in a hail of police gunfire.
Jeremy Goulet, a 35-year-old coffee house worker, had taken the service weapons from Sgt. Loren Baker and Det. Elizabeth Butler after fatally shooting the two officers outside his residence, reports the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
Goulet then stole Sgt. Baker's unmarked car and drove it to a Whole Foods market several blocks away, where he opened fire on officers and Santa Cruz County Sheriff's deputies. He was shot and killed.
Goulet's father has described him as a "ticking time bomb" who vowed not to go back to prison. Goulet spent a decade in the military, first in the Marine Corps Reserves then three years in the Army. He was trained as a military policeman and served as a Blackhawk helicopter pilot. He had no active duty deployments, reports the Mercury News.
Goulet had served jail time for sex and weapons charges.

"A ticking time bomb" sex offender wearing body armor. It is obvious that this dirt bag was planning for a fire fight. Two dead officers as victims, when will it ever end.

He stole the body armor from the detective unit that he also stole. He was already a convicted sex offender, yet he was able to register guns in California, so again gun control has Failed. I have to ask the question, why wasn't he still in prison?? All Violent Offenders should have to REGISTER, just like the sex offenders do. In some states if you are convicted of a sex crime at 13, then you have to register as a sex offender, even as an adult. If you get convicted of Murder at 13, you have a clean record at 18 and start an new life. Why would a Murderer get a Break, when a sex offender is treated like an adult?? Let Register people convicted of Violent Crime.

I'm not sure registering criminals will work to prevent future crime, but I don't oppose the attempt.
As far as the "Gun Control" comment above is concerned...well.
Banning guns to end violence is equal to:
1) banning short skirts to end teen pregnancy,
2) banning cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine to end street drug use, and
3) passing laws to keep criminals from doing...anything.

Makes one wonder if dad was doing all he could since he knew he was "a ticking time bomb."
