UK Home Office Approves Police Use of Taser X26

Law enforcement officers authorized to use firearms throughout England and Wales now have approval to use Taser International’s Taser X26.
The Home Office released a Ministerial Statement authorizing the newer model of Taser’s conducted energy device after evaluating the device with computer modeling and independent medical testing.
“I have therefore authorized chief officers to make the X26 Taser available to authorized firearms officers in their force for use as a less-lethal alternative for use in situations where a firearms authority has been granted in accordance with criteria laid down in the ACPO Manual of Guidance on Police Use of Firearms,” said the statement. “The authorization for the M26 remains in force.”
