HAIX will provide all boots to the chosen wear-testers free of charge. Officers who receive the boots must agree to wear them on active duty for four weeks in September/October.
“All I knew was a man needed help and if I didn’t help him, he might not be here today,” Turner said. “I believe God put me where I was that night on purpose.”
Haix North America's new Black Eagle Tactical 2.0 GTX High Side Zip boot is made to be lightweight and breathable with the convenience of a side zipper for quick in and out of the boot.
Turner pulled on his firefighter gear due to the extreme heat and jumped over downed power lines to pull the man out of the immediate danger zone. The man suffered injuries to his legs and could not walk. Turner said he wasn’t thinking about the danger at the time.
Winkler says he is still learning from Fischer's dedication to duty. "He definitely stands out to all of us firefighters for going above and beyond his call of duty. We had a hazmat call for a semi that slid down a road and tore its fuel tank open. Keith was the officer that responded. He helped us set up traffic cones, secure the perimeter, and direct traffic. He was not required to do any of this, especially in the freezing cold blizzard."
It's time for you to nominate the October HAIX Hero of the Month. Goodson was honored for his community service. Witzgall was honored for his work training fellow officers. Do you know officers who are performing equally heroic acts? If so, submit their nomination for the next HAIX Hero of the Month.
