The 2024 pursuit-rated vehicles--all pickup trucks or SUVs, including two battery electric models the Chevrolet Blazer EV AWD and Ford Mustang Mach-E--were put through their paces.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV AWD is General Motors' first battery electric pursuit-rated vehicle. In the Michigan State Police testing it accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 5.17 seconds.

Michigan State Police Launches 911 Text Program
The Michigan State Police will be testing a pilot program in which 911 callers are sent a text informing them of how long it will be before a trooper arrives. If the anticipated arrival time changes, then they receive an update notification.

MI Trooper Pinned Between Patrol Vehicles After DUI Collision on Traffic Stop
The pinned trooper was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening leg injuries and has been treated and released. The second trooper suffered back pain but remained on scene.

“A trooper is often the first emergency responder to arrive when someone contacts 911 for a medical emergency. We know moments matter. The faster we can assist, the better the chance of survival,” says Lt. Col. Dale Hinz, commander of the Field Operations Bureau.

When the trooper arrived, flames were visible from the engine compartment, and she immediately ran to the overturned vehicle and began trying to break the windshield using her hands, arms, and feet to gain access to the driver who was trapped inside.

MSP Ranks the Fastest Police Vehicles of 2022
For the acceleration test, the Ford Mach-E achieved the fastest 0-60 mph and 0-100 mph at 4.03 seconds and 11.94 seconds. This was followed by the Ford PIU 3L EcoBoost at 5.45 seconds and 13.47 seconds. The PIU 3L EcoBoost was the fastest vehicle tested, achieving a top speed of 148 mph, followed by the two Dodge Chargers, which tied at 139 mph.
