The occasional Raphael Perez notwithstanding—which happened to be more a problem of negligent hiring in the first place; the guy was known to be a less-than-ideal candidate at the time of his hiring by LAPD—I believe cops just don't take, toke, or smoke anything they're not supposed to.

Some cops say marijuana is not benign; it's a gateway drug that leads users to harder narcotics. Others say policing its use and sale wastes precious law enforcement resources.

The answer to the drug problem lies in a variety of factors. Education is one. Good parenting is another. Also, while drug abuse is stupid, romanticizing its use through popular culture is more so. Finally, let's not be afraid to pass judgment.
