TREXPO East 2009 offered three days of classes covering topics ranging from knife defense to European tactical medicine techniques. Some of the best classes during this year's TREXPO East conference focused on terrorism and its effects on front line officers.

The conference portion of the 2007 TREXPO East offered a little bit of something for every attendee. Once primarily SWAT oriented, the TREXPO conference now includes classes of interest to tactical medics, SWAT operators, patrol officers, and gang officers.

TREXPO is both a trade show and an educational conference for law enforcement officers. And this year’s TREXPO West held recently in Long Beach, Calif., offered excellent training opportunities for both SWAT and patrol officers.

Conference attendance was up significantly at this year’s TREXPO East, held Aug. 29 through Aug. 31 in Chantilly, Va. And with good reason. The conference program offered an excellent balance of hands-on defensive tactics training, anti-terrorism classes, and patrol and SWAT tactics courses.

The introduction comes in the form of a three-minute round of body sparring in a 6X6-foot ring against the trainers, all noted martial artists and police DT instructors in their own right. Both the students and the instructors wear 16-ounce boxing gloves and headgear, but they still get hit and it still hurts.
