If I worked a gang unit in your area, I would send plainclothes officers inside to monitor any Lowrider shows near your jurisdiction. I would also watch carefully and stop in unannounced at your local Lowrider custom shop. These shops are often also stolen car chop shops.

The number of local gang killings is low, but it's our common belief that one is too many. Whenever one of our children becomes a victim of gangs, it affects all of us. Specifically, when we personalize this problem and perceive the murdered child as a part of our family, it wounds our existence forever.

We may not save every kid from gang involvement, but every kid deserves an opportunity to succeed. Law enforcement officers are the angels of our society, and when even one kid is saved from gang involvement, there are countless others behind and around that kid that we have also prevented from taking the wrong turn at the fork.

To that cowardly pack of gang thugs, it was the symbol for the rival Norteño gangs and the Nuestra Familia prison gang. To them, this is like wearing a Nazi uniform to the Auschwitz survivors' reunion.
