I have a lot of concerns about our now five-year-old war on terror. But the biggest is that we can't even come out and say who we're fighting. Many people don't take this war seriously because our leadership has not had the guts to come out and say who we're fighting.

The 9/11 atrocities changed America. But unless they were directly affected, I don't think it really changed individual Americans. In fact, I think it had the opposite effect. If you were liberal before the attack, it made you more liberal; conservative, more conservative; pacifist, more pacifist...

You can say with just a little bit of hyperbole that all Americans and all American landmarks are targets of Al Qaeda in the war on terror. However, some places are more vulnerable and have drawn more attention from the worldwide network of Islamic fanatics than others.
