The Homeland Security grants that seemed to grow on trees after 9/11 are not as plentiful as they once were. But that's not to say law enforcement agencies can't obtain grant funding for specialty vehicles. They just might need to approach it differently.

The Tactical Protector Vehicle (TPV) from Oshkosh Defense is an armored SWAT operations vehicle designed specifically for the narrow streets of American cities and suburbs. Built on a Ford F550 chassis with a 325-horsepower turbocharged V-8 engine, the TPV can carry four to eight fully equipped operators.
