Motorola Solutions, a leading provider of mission-critical communication solutions and services for public safety and commercial customers, today announced that it will acquire Spillman Technologies, a privately held provider of comprehensive law enforcement and public safety software solutions for computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and records management systems (RMS).

Thirty-two public safety and private security agencies chose Spillman Technologies as their new software vendor during the first quarter of 2016, bringing Spillman’s total customer count to nearly 1,700 agencies across the United States. In addition to these new agencies, 68 existing Spillman customers expanded their current systems by purchasing additional software modules.

The governing board of WASCOP elected to make the statewide purchase after reviewing a proposal created by Spillman to improve collaboration and efficiency among current Spillman customers. The board will fund the initial installation and first-year costs while providing each agency with the individual product licenses. The agencies will then be responsible for maintenance fees on the three products after the first year.

The Portland (Ind.) Police Department has chosen Spillman Technologies for its computer-aided dispatch (CAD), records management (RMS), and mobile public safety software systems. The agency will join a shared Spillman system hosted by the Jay County Sheriff’s Office, which will optimize resources and efficiency by allowing the agencies to share data seamlessly across jurisdictional lines.
