The constable's office says she stopped ahead of the DUI suspect and was parked on the side of the entranceway to the westbound lanes, when the truck hit her vehicle. Chavis' patrol vehicle burst into flames after the crash.

Trooper Devin Henson located the vehicle. The SUV attempted to swerve around Henson's patrol car. "The front of the trooper’s car made contact with the driver’s side of the SUV where it was stopped in the HOV and #1 lane," DPS said.
