Philadelphia Officer Shot While Serving Warrant in Critical Condition

A veteran SWAT officer with the Philadelphia (PA) Police Department was shot in the face and critically injured while serving a warrant for a weapons violation early Monday morning.

When SWAT officers entered the subject's residence they immediately came under fire. Officers returned fire, reportedly hitting the gunman, who was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Commissioner Ross said that despite the critical nature of his injuries, the 20-year veteran officer is expected to survive.
