Florida authorities say a teenager has been charged in the armed carjacking that resulted in the death of a police dog named Fang.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office confirms 17-year-old Jhamel Paskel is charged with shooting Fang, armed robbery, and kidnapping. Sheriff's Office Lt. Craig Waldrup said Monday that the teen admitted to his involvement in the incident, reports the Associated Press.

Deputies say Paskel fled from the car on foot with K-9 Officer Matt Herrera and Fang in pursuit. Paskel then reportedly fatally wounded the 3-year-old German shepherd.
