California Officer Slashed in Face During Encounter with Mentally Ill Man
A California Highway Patrol officer was slashed in the face with a sharp object early Tuesday in the town of Livingston during an encounter with a reportedly mentally ill man. The man was Tasered and taken into custody.

The film advocates that mentaly ill people be held in the least restrictive environment possible, particularly not in a jail cell unless absolutely essential. The Bloomingdale Police Department responded to a call where a 21-year-old mentally disabled woman had wandered away from her home. Officers found her walking along the roadway, adding that she was "visibly scared and upset and would not come with the police."
