Motorola To Build 700 MHz Public Safety Network In Houston

In a filing with the FCC, Motorola didn't mention LTE yet noted that Harris County selected Motorola "as its equipment vendor for technology that will be used in the Harris County layer of the intended public-safety broadband statewide network."

Motorola Solutions added another public-safety win, disclosing plans to build a 700 MHz LTE network for public safety in the Houston area that would be similar to the one the company is planning for the San Francisco bay area.

In a filing with the FCC, Motorola didn't mention LTE yet noted that Harris County selected Motorola "as its equipment vendor for technology that will be used in the Harris County layer of the intended public-safety broadband statewide network."

In its national broadband plan, the FCC standardized LTE for public-safety networks.

In July, Motorola announced it would begin installing an LTE system that would be ready by 2011. The network overlay would use Project 25 voice and data networks to deliver advanced communications tools to first responders, the company announced at the time.
