Man who Shot Minn. Cop In Head Found Dead

A Lake City (Minn.) Police officer responding to a call of a domestic disturbance at about 8:30 a.m. today was shot in the head and currently in critical condition.

Officers responded to a house in the 600 block of Lyons Avenue near Highway 63 in the southeastern Minnesota community, after a woman called 911, reports the Pioneer Press.

Authorities believe officer Shawn Schneider, a nine-year veteran of the agency, was shot by 25-year-old Alan J. Sylte Jr. of Hager City, Wis.

Earlier today, the Minnesota State Patrol's Special Response Team (SRT) surrounded the home where Sytle was hiding. Sytle was later found dead in the home, reports KARE-TV.
