Three LAPD Officers Injured During Standoff With Shooting Protesters

Four protesters were arrested and three LAPD officers were injured when bottles and a rock were thrown at them.

A crowd of protestors arrived at Rampart Station on Monday to protest the shooting of a Guatamalan immigrant by LAPD bicycle patrol officers, the Los Angeles Times reports.

During a tense, 12-hour standoff, protesters burned mattresses and shouted "Assassination" in Spanish and told the paper that Manuel Jamines, 37, was unarmed when officers shot him.

LAPD Capt. Rigo Romero said officers recovered a knife from the scene and that detectives were investigating the killing. Jamines was allegedly threatening passers-by with the knife.
