The FBI has expressed disappointment that John Gotti Jr. left a New York courtroom a free man, as a jury failed to convict him for the fourth time in five years.

The FBI has expressed disappointment that John Gotti Jr. left a New York courtroom a free man, as a jury failed to convict him for the fourth time in five years.

In a bureau statement, U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara praised the agents who worked on the case.

"The inability of the jury to reach a verdict does not diminish the work of the many agents, prosecutors, and staff who showed unyielding dedication and resolve in the investigation and prosecution of this case," Bharara wrote in the statement. "We are evaluating how to proceed and, in the near future, will inform the court and the defense of our decision."
