A little known provision in the National Defense Authorization Act, which was recently approved by the Senate after veto from President Trump, requires federal officers working at protests and civil disturbances to wear their names and the names of the agencies they work for.
Federal officers responding in riot-torn cities last year were criticized for not wearing ID or agency names.
At the time, Attorney General William Barr responded that federal officers generally do not wear name tags on the job.
The law allows an exception for officers who work under cover, the Hill reports.
