Actor Ricky Schroder—who has had his own run-ins with law enforcement in the past—has donated a substantial amount of money to the two deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Office who were wounded in an ambush shooting in September.

According to the entertainment website TMZ.com, Schroder donated directly $11,111 to the two deputies, as well as pitching in $25,000 to boost the reward for the apprehension of the suspected gunman.

The number 11,111 is said to have special meaning to families of military members who have died in combat as well as families of public safety servants who have died in the line of duty.

Schroder is best known for his childhood role on the sit-com "Silver Spoons," but he was also played a detective on the police show "NYPD Blue" for two seasons.
