According to KRGV-TV, officers with the McAllen Police Department arrested the man—identified as 33-year-old Nedio Alaniz Jr.—on Sunday.

A judge had signed an arrest warrant for Alaniz in May but had not encountered him until they responded to a disturbance call.

The officer—whose identity has not been released—was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
