Off-Duty New York Officer Saves 2 Dogs from House Fire

An off-duty officer with the Syracuse (NY) Police Department is being lauded for saving two dogs from a house fire late last week.

An off-duty officer with the Syracuse (NY) Police Department is being lauded for saving two dogs from a house fire late last week.

According to NBC News, Officer James Nowodworski was driving on a local road when he saw heavy smoke coming from a home. He entered the home and after not finding anyone in the home, he was able to bring the two dogs to safety.

The dogs were unharmed, as was Nowodworski.

The local fire department was able to quickly contain the fire.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
