The chief of the Fairfax County (VA) Police Department leaped into action to stop a man who was stabbing the pastor ands worshipers gathered for Bible study over the weekend, possibly saving multiple lives in the process.

According to ABC News, multiple people were injured on Saturday afternoon when an alleged member of the congregation started stabbing people before being stopped by Roessler and two other worshipers.

WJLA reports that Chief Roessler is a 31-year law enforcement veteran who has been in a leadership position with Fairfax County Police since 2010.

The unnamed suspect was taken into custody.
