An officer with the Louisville (KY) Police Department will reportedly be fired on Friday after his involvement in the fatal shooting of a woman at her apartment earlier this year.

According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, Mayor Greg Fischer announced Friday that Louisville Metro Police is initiating termination of Officer Brett Hankison, one of three officers to discharge their service weapons during warrant service at the apartment of Breonna Taylor in March.

In a written statement Interim Chief Robert Schroeder accused Hankison of "blindly" firing rounds into Taylor's apartment.

The statement continued, "I find your conduct a shock to the conscience. I am alarmed and stunned you used deadly force in this fashion."
