West Virginia Officer, Trooper Suffer Non-Life-Threatening Gunshot Wounds

Two law enforcement officers attempting to execute a search warrant were wounded by gunfire on Thursday.

Two law enforcement officers attempting to execute a search warrant were wounded by gunfire on Thursday.

According to WVVA-TV, the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force and the RCSO Special Response Team were executing a search warrant when gunfire erupted.

During the execution of the warrant a Sheriff's Deputy and a State Police Trooper were shot in what appears upon initial investigation to be an accidental discharge.

Both were transported to a nearby hospital where they were treated for injuries that are considered to be non-life-threatening.

An investigation is ongoing. 

The names of the wounded LEOs have not been released, and information on the specifics of the warrant service remain undisclosed.
