A California District Attorney has ruled that police acted justly and bravely in response to a mass shooting that occurred at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in July 2019.

According to CBS News—the Santa Clara District Attorney's Office, after colluding concluding a nearly eight-month-long investigation into the Gilroy Garlic Festival mass shooting—ruled that police officers were "justified and courageous" in engaging Santino Legan in a gunfight that left the alleged assailant dead.

Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Rob Baker stated that if it wasn't for "the heroic actions of Gilroy Police Detective Eric Cryar and officers Robert Basuino and Hugh Del Moral, the toll could have been much higher."
