A man is dead after leading suburban Atlanta police on a wild chase that ended with him crashing into Lake Lanier in Hall County, GA, and exchanging fire with officers.

Gwinnett County police told WSBTV the man shot at them from the sinking vehicle and they returned fire.

Police say the man was involved in a crash just before 5 p.m. Friday. He then reportedly jumped out of the car with a rifle and ran from the scene. The other people involved in the crash suffered minor injuries.
