Two officers with the Chicago Police Department were seriously wounded when their patrol vehicle was struck by another car at an intersection early Thursday morning.

According to the Chicago Tribune, police said the patrol vehicle was broadsided by a 2005 Buick LaCrosse driven by an unidentified 41-year-old male driver who stayed on the scene and cooperated with the subsequent investigation. The crash caused the squad car to roll on its side, police said.

Both officers, one male and one female, were transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition but were subsequently listed in fair condition.
