California Officer, Civilian Motorist Injured in Vehicle Collision

An officer with the Costa Mesa Police Department who was responding to an emergency call collided with another motorist at an intersection on Thursday morning.

An officer with the Costa Mesa (CA) Police Department who was responding to an emergency call collided with another motorist at an intersection on Thursday morning.

According to the Orange County Register, the officer had his lights and siren activated and was proceeding through an intersection when the civilian driver collided with the patrol car.

Both individuals—whose names have not been released—were transported to a nearby hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Costa Mesa police and the California Highway Patrol are investigating the crash.
