An officer with the Kingston (PA) Police Department fired a single shot at a man who appeared to be armed with a gun and was approaching paramedics who had responded to a call of a medical emergency on Thursday morning.

According to ABC News, the man—identified as 28-year-old Harley Fitzgerald-Krongel—refused to respond to the officer's commands and continued his approach. The officer then reportedly shoved the two paramedics aside and fired a single shot at the potential assailant.

Fitzgerald-Krongel was not struck and fled the scene but turned himself in to police shortly thereafter and was arrested.

Fitzgerald-Krongel now faces charges of aggravated assault and making terroristic threats.

The weapon in his possession was later found to be a BB gun.
