Two Honolulu police officers were killed and another was shot in the leg while responding to a call about a stabbing Sunday morning in a neighborhood near Diamond Head.
Hawaii News Now reports the incident began with an eviction. Officials say the suspect, identified as Jerry Hanel, stabbed his landlady.
In the wake of the shooting, the suspect then allegedly set fire to the home. Flames spread quickly to several nearby homes. At least four homes have been destroyed.
The suspect is believed to be dead in his burned residence. There are reports of ammo cooking off in the house.
In addition to the homes that were burned, several HPD vehicles were also damaged in the flames.
