Off-Duty Ohio Officer Comes Under Fire During Roadside Dispute

An officer with the Warren (OH) Police Department was on his way home from work when he stopped to provide aid to what he thought was a disabled vehicle on the side of the road. But the incident somehow escalated, and both parties reportedly fired shots.

An officer with the Warren (OH) Police Department was on his way home from work when he stopped to provide aid to what he thought was a disabled vehicle on the side of the road. But the incident somehow escalated, and both parties reportedly fired shots.

According to NBC News, the officer was not hit, and was able to return fire before the suspect fled in a early 2000s model black SUV. 

The officer was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and later released.

The suspect remains at large as a search continues.
