A man who is accused of assaulting an officer with the Bozeman (MT) Police Department over the weekend made his first appearance before the Gallatin County Justice Court on Monday.

According to KPAX-TV, police said the man—identified as 39-year-old Clinton Hall—was charged with felony assault on a peace officer and his bail was set at $100,000 due to his lengthy criminal history.

The alleged assault took place on Sunday as officers responded to a 911 call from a woman who said Hall had beaten and raped her.

Hall reportedly walked away from officers who were attempting to take him into custody. When officers attempted to detain him physically, Hall grabbed an officers arm and caused both men to fall down a set of stairs, police say.

The officer suffered minor injuries in the fall, but has returned to work.
