Kentucky Officer Credited with Talking Suicidal Woman Down From Bridge

An officer with the Harlan (KY) Police Department is being credited with saving the life of a suicidal woman who was perched on a highway overpass and in jeopardy of jumping or falling to her death over the weekend.

According to WYMT-TV, Kentucky State Police received a call about the distraught woman on the bridge, and relayed that information to Harlan PD.

Upon arrival at the scene, a Harlan officer—whose name has not been released—discovered the woman on the other side of the protective railing.

He was able to talk with her and convince her to safely return to the road side of the railing.

The woman was then transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
