An officer with the Pascagoula (MS) Police Department and his K-9 partner suffered minor injuries on Tuesday night when their patrol vehicle was struck by a suspected DUI driver.

The agency said on Facebook, "This is the unfortunate reality of Driving Under the Influence! Officer Snyder and his partner, K-9 Tony, were struck by a drunk driver while the officers were patrolling our streets on New Year's Eve."

The social media post said that the suspected DUI driver did not suffer any injuries and was charged with Driving Under the Influence.

The post concluded, "Both officers were fortunate to have only received minor injuries. We cannot stress enough the danger of driving under the influence."
