Houston police officer Gizelle Solorio died Thursday morning in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 10 near Sealy. She was reportedly driving the wrong direction on the highway.

Solorio, 32, was driving east in a westbound traffic lane when she hit a Kenworth truck tractor around 6:25 a.m., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

It’s not yet clear what caused Solorio, of Katy, to be driving in the opposite direction. State trooper Sgt. Stephen Woodard said that was still under investigation, adding there were “no intoxication signs at the scene.”

Solorio had been with the department just two years and seven months, but her fellow officers in the Northeast Division said she made an outsized mark during her short tenure, the Houston Chronicle reports.
