Massachusetts Trooper Slashed with Blade at Traffic Stop

A Massachusetts State Police trooper is being treated for slash wounds after being attacked with an edged weapon during a traffic stop Thursday.

A Massachusetts State Police trooper is being treated for slash wounds after being attacked with an edged weapon during a traffic stop Thursday.

The incident happened just after noon on Interstate 495 South prior to exit 54 in Amesbury.

The trooper, who is based at the Andover Barracks, was taken to Lawrence General Hospital for treatment of the wounds, which are not believed to be serious, WCVB reports.

The suspect was also injured and was taken to a local hospital before being transferred via medical helicopter to a Boston hospital.
