Video: CHP Officer Helps Woman Communicate at DMV Using ASL

The California Highway Patrol officer who responded knew American Sign Language and was able to help sort out the confusion and get the woman what she needed.

The California Highway Patrol shared video of an act of kindness by one of their officers in the Central Los Angeles division Tuesday, reports CBS News.

It started as a call for a disturbance at a DMV office. But after getting to the location, the officer realized it was all a misunderstanding. The woman in question was hearing impaired and upset because she was trying to communicate using American Sign Language, but the workers at the DMV did not understand her.

Luckily, the CHP officer who responded knew ASL and was able to help sort out the confusion and get the woman what she needed. He even helped cover the cost of her California identification card.
