Officers responding to a disturbance call came under fire from a gunman with a semi-automatic rifle on Tuesday morning in the town of Laredo.

According to KSAT-TV, a 33-year-old officer was struck in the leg and two individuals—a 21-year-old man and 53-year-old woman—also received undisclosed gunshot wounds when the gunman opened fire as police arrived at the home.

The gunman—identified as 22-year-old Cesar Terrazas—fired dozens of rounds at officers in what Police Chief Claudio Treviño Jr. called an ambush. “This individual was ready to face them and ready to murder them,” Treviño said at an afternoon press conference.

The unidentified officer was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released. The other two victims are listed in stable condition.

Terrazas was arrested and now faces a series of felony charges including attempted capital murder, aggravated assault, and burglary.
