Illinois Officers Help Make Girl's "Dream Come True"

A mom in Illinois posted on social media that an officer with the Loves Park (IL) Police Department made their day when he stopped to take a picture with her daughter and his K-9 partner.

A mom in Illinois got her timing wrong and arrived late to the annual "Trunk or Treat" event hosted by the Loves Park (IL) Police Department. Upon arrival, she saw that there were hundreds of people in line waiting to get treats from the officers standing beside the trunks of their patrol vehicles.

Seeing the crowd, she told her daughter that they'd have to miss the event, Lindsey Green said in a Facebook post.

"I told Lily there were too many people in line to wait," Green wrote. "She was devastated. All she wanted was a picture with a real police officer."

The post continued, "On the way home after apologizing 100 times to her, I flagged down a Loves Park Police Officer. He was gracious enough to take a picture with Lily then to top things off he asked Lily if she wanted him to get his K-9 out of the car. Lily's face lit up!

The post concluded, "A BIG thank you to Officer Limberg and K-9 Blitz for making Lily's night! She is ecstatic! Community policing at its finest!"
