Canadian Officer Shot During Standoff in Remote Region of British Columbia

An officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police was wounded by gunfire during a standoff situation late last week.

An officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police was wounded by gunfire during a standoff situation late last week in Argenta, British Columbia. The incident happened in a remote cabin.

According to the Nelson Star, an officer—whose name has not been released—suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Chief Superintendent Brad Haugli of the Southeast District RCMP said in a statement, "While we always hope that situations such as this come to a swift and safe resolution, we are thankful that our officer is expected to fully recover and no one else has been injured."

The 28-year-old gunman was taken into custody without further incident.
