The Sparta (WI) Police Department had some fun on social media after an officer discovered a box of half-eaten donuts in a parking lot late one night.

The agency posted images on Facebook with a caption that read, in part, "A few nights ago night shift located a suspicious package in one of the school parking lots. Being the middle of the night with no people or vehicles around, it was decided to investigate further (you know, see something say something). After getting closer, a grisly scene unfolded. The pictures of the scene may be disturbing to small children and members of the law enforcement community."

The post continued, "An officer discovered a partially consumed box of donuts. The victims appeared to be one cinnamon roll donut, two chocolate frosting w/ sprinkles, one white frosting w/ sprinkles, and another whose shape was severely mangled and could not be identified. The incident was recognized as a potential trap to lure in tired and hungry night shift officers. The scene was quickly secured and the remaining evidence was....*ahem* 'PROPERLY DISPOSED OF.'"
