According to ABC News, the chain offered to donate profits from Tuesday's sales but decided to extend the campaign when many locations were flooded with customers wanting to participate.

Papa John's apologized on Facebook for the longer than normal wait times, acknowledging that some orders took between two and four hours.

"Thank you Houston for the outpouring of support for Deputy Dhaliwal and his family. We want to apologize for longer wait times than normal. Please be patient as we are getting out orders as fast as we can. Your support has been tremendous! " the company said.
