An officer with the Elmira (NY) Police Department suffered minor injuries when a 17-year-old female driver failed to stop at a red light and crashed into his patrol vehicle on Wednesday night, according to the Department.

According to the Star Gazette, the officer was passing through the intersection under a green light when the girl's vehicle crashed into his squad.

The officer was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released.

The driver—whose name has not been released because she is a juvenile—was charged with failure to stop for a steady red traffic signal, operating in violation of license restrictions, and unlawful possession of marijuana.
