An officer with the Baltimore Police Department who has been confined to a hospital bed since being shot multiple times while off duty last week took to social media to declare that he'd be back on the streets and on duty soon.

In a YouTube video, Isaac "Ike" Carrington—a 43-year-old Baltimore police sergeant—said, "I love you all," and "I'm 10-8."

It was Carrington's first public appearance since being shot multiple times Thursday afternoon outside his home in Northeast Baltimore.

A gunman reportedly exited a vehicle and approached Carrington—who was talking with a neighbor at the time of the incident—and attempted to rob him.

Carrington is reportedly making slow but steady progress in his recovery.
