A deputy with the Harris County (TX) Sheriff's Office shot and killed a carjacking suspect who was reportedly pistol-whipping a responding K-9.

According to Fox News, the man—whose name has not been released—was one of several individuals who shot a driver and stole his vehicle on Monday evening.

A K-9 handler deputy spotted the stolen vehicle and approached the men inside. The subjects fled on foot, and the deputy released the K-9.

When the K-9 caught one of the suspects, the individual began beating the dog with a pistol.

The deputy opened fire, fatally wounding the man.
