An officer with the Fremont (CA) Police Department was seen in dramatic mobile phone video rescuing a man from a burning SUV over the weekend.

According to ABC News, Officer Jason Trzewieczynski was the first to arrive at the scene of the single-vehicle crash and began to attack the growing fire at the front section of the vehicle with his fire extinguisher.

After Trzewieczynski exhausted the capacity of the extinguisher, he entered the SUV from the rear compartment and eventually pulled the 28-year-old driver to safety.

Trzewieczynski told the news station that several weeks prior, he responded to a car crash and right when he arrived, the car exploded.

"So, that was kind of going through my mind," Trzewieczynski said.

The video of the rescue was captured by a local resident who said several times during filming that she felt helpless to assist because she was not wearing shoes.
